Q: Good NAS (Network Attached Storage) solution w/ RAID 1?
I'm looking for something relatively cheap, under $500, with at least 1TB of storage. I found a Lacie drive that seems to be pretty good but I'm wondering what else is out there. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822154214 RAID 1 is a must, I want it to be a reasonably secure setup. Also any NAS devices that can stream to an XBox 360 are greatly appreciated - I know a few can.A:A lot depends on whether you mind getting down and dirty to save some bucks or you just want the lowest cost P&P solution P&P solution The link to the D-Link product guide below will show you one of D-Links NAS solutions. Raid 1 is supported. It's about $150 and drives are NOT included Cheapest solution If you have an old box in the closet, drag it out, put in a SATA card (about $75) and load Linux on it and SAMBA. Most SATA PCI cards have a RAID 1 feature built in (at least mine does) .
