A:First, you'll go over a lot of literary techniques, poetic devices, etc. Your first assignment will probably be to write a very short story. You'll study poetry, the different types of sonnets, the structure of rhyming poetry, rhythm, that kinda thing. You'll write your own sonnets and haikus and freeform poetry. You'll play with symbolism, maybe. And your biggest project will be to write a full-length short story (maybe ten pages or so), with characters, a plot, setting, theme. It'll be fun! Be prepared for peer editing and critiques. I hated it because there was one really stuck up girl in my CW class. But overall, a good experience. Good luck, and have fun with it!

A:This site has a writing prompt generator. It might seem dumb, but I use some of these to get me started. And once I start....well, you know. It's worth trying if you feel blocked. A lot of these are basic, but they get you thinking.

A:you will create a thesis based on your research. it is your argument that you will then prove by using evidence from your sources. You can not claim X is beacuse of Y just because you think that is the case. You will have to say: Larry Smith responds to this issue by stating "Y is the prominent facctor for X" and that there way a lack of Z during this time (Smith 356). The parenthesis thing is parenthetical notation, you put the last name and page number (although, you really wouldn't have the name in my example because the author was already cited in the sentence itself.)
