Every used car has a "Blue Book" price, and depending on the wear/tear on the car, can have a low/medium/high value. How do they get this information?

A:Through sample surveys and research with dealers and individuals. They then look at historical selling patterns and calculate a price range. Basically they conduct an ongoing market analysis of the car market.

100% Q: Why is the Kelly Blue Book consistently so much higher than NADA for used car prices? Which is more credible?

I'm talking about the on-line versions of both.

A:There is no single authority on used car pricing. All of these websites are simply price guides and none of them offer actual value for your car. A guide tells you what you might expect to see, a ball park figure, a "guess-stimate" to go by. But NONE of them are THE authority on used car pricing. The best thing to do is to look at them all, take the average and go from there. Black Book online is nothing more than a lead generator for used car sales, not a price guide. Avoid it. Use these online guides to determine your average price, NADA EDMUNDS KELLY BLUE BOOK AUTOTRADER (not a guide but you can see what similar cars in your area are selling for) CARS.com VEHIX.com consumerguideauto.howstuffworks.com/ I prefer the Consumers Guide since it generally has the lowest price listing of all the guides and in my opinion reflects the real world values of cars on the street.

A:Some of the information procured at all of these sights come from resources such as ads, NADA guides, and actual dealership inventory lists. For the most part, KBB is the most consumer friendly. What you need to know, though, is that most dealerships don't follow any of these guides as a way of doing business. Most dealerships take every car in based on a wholesale price, or whatever they picked that car up for at auction. Then, from there it goes into the service department, and gets retail ready. At that point, it is up to each individual dealer to set whatever price they want to get for the car. That is why prices range on all of these sights, each dealer sets varying prices. Some dealerships are metal movers, and simply want to move units, while others want to make a large gross (profit) on every car that roles over the curb. These are all good consumer guides, but they are simply that, guides, and not to be lived by.

100% Q: what is the best months to get a good deal on a new or used car?When is prices the lowest?

I need a nice car soon and i don't want to rush into anything too soon.It's been years since i bought a car on credit so i want to try and make sure i don't get rushed into anything by these dealers who just want your money.I prefer to wait on the months that the prices of automobiles are low and reasonable.
