A:You do if you'll be going through the U.S. As of January 30, 2008, anyone entering or leaving the U.S. must have a passport (unless you want to spend several hours in a CIS office while they verify your citizenship). So if you'll be stopping anywhere in the U.S., even if it's just to change planes, you'll need a passport. Not 100% sure if you need a passport to enter/exit Mexico, but I'm 95% sure you need one.

A:Actually, a passport IS the best way to go, but you need only your birth certificate and photo ID. Starting in December, a passport will be required to enter Mexico, so I suggest that you get yours renewed to avoid problems in the future. If you have further questions, check with the Mexican Consulates office near you. (You can also get your tourist card there).

When having "dual citizenship" (Canadian/American) and travelling to USA from Canada, I usually only have to show my Status Card-Tax Exempt Card. I have never travelled to Mexico and I have been told that I dont need a passport, is this true???

A:You do NOT need a US Passport to travel TO Mexico, but you will need one to return after 12/31/06. Native American, or not.
