A:Old labs say anything below 5.0, newer evidence shows anything below 3.0, and recently leading endocrinologist and anti-aging specialist are saying below 2.5. If you had other problems that pointed to hypothyroidism, then treatment would be warranted. If not, then you need to look at other causes. A:I have a hypothyroid, and I can tell you that your body speaks louder than a blood test. I always brushed off my symptoms and blamed something else. How are you feeling? The symptoms of hypothyroid are: fatigue (mine was extreme), dry skin (most prominent around the eyes), dry and brittle hair and nails, longer or heavier than normal periods, constipation, weight gain (or having a harder time than normal to lose weight).
