First, if you're asking whether or not you can install Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 on a computer running Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, the answer is sort-of. Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 is its own operating system (comprised of crippled versions of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Microsoft Exchange), thus you'd probably have to wipe your computer clean (back up your files!!) to install it. If you're asking about connecting Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition to a Microsoft Small Business Server 2003, the simple answer is that most of what a Windows Server can do can't be accessed without a little hacking. When Microsoft released the Home Edition they removed certain features to discourage people from using it except in Home situations, this it is incapable of logging into a Windows Domain regardless of what kind of Windows Server you're running. However, Outlook 2003 will have no trouble accessing the Exchange Server-portion of the Small Business Server. You should also be able to access files on the server from Home Edition without too many problems. My suggestion though, for many reasons, would be to upgrade the computer to Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition, for many reasons, not the least of which is the Active Directory/Domain functionality.
