100% Q: side effects to getting off zoloft. what is happening?

hi there, I started on zoloft right after my father died and would like to get off it now. I have weaned myself off about a week ago, but I may have done it too quickly. I feel like I may pass out like my hearing is super sensitive. Everything seems ultra sensitive and it makes me feel like I have plugged ears or something. Bright lights and sounds are the problem. Do you think this is a side effect of coming off this med? Thanks

A:This could possibly be. Especially if you've been on zoloft for an extended period of time and depending on the dosage. It would seem like your brain is trying to regulate the sudden low dosages and that's causing auditory and visual sensitivities. I strongly recommend talking this over with whomever prescribed you to this about potentially getting off of it for good rather than just taking yourself off. And until you get to see them I would go back to the original dosing. If these problems become overly persistant even before then you may want to seek medical attention and get yourself checked out.

100% Q: Coming off 'Zoloft' antidepressant...side effects!!?

Hi, i have been on zoloft from about a year and i have just been weaning myself off them, i did as the doctor said i went from 100mg to 50mg and so on... I have been having 'withdrawls' from coming off the drug it's been a week now i've been off them and i've been having these like head 'zaps' they call them it's hard to explain but when you look from one place to another you get like a weird 'zap' in your head and body... I would like to know whether anyone else has experienced this??? And how long it took for the side effects to go away? XXxxXX

A:You should have started cutting this down to every other day. Then every 2 days and so on. This should have been done over a 2 to 4 week period. This would have helped quite a bit better than just stopping one day. Even after you had cut the daily intake. Doing it this way would have made withdrawal symptoms very minimal or not even there.

100% Q: Going off Zoloft, 50 mg. What side effects will I get?

Been on Zoloft for just stress and anxiety since March & put on 15 lbs. since summer. Don't want to be on the stuff, I think it is causing most by problems, tired, crabby, can't sleep (better if taken in am) and seemed impulsive eater. I cut myself down to 25mg for a good month, then stopped takin since Friday (4 days). Am I over the w/drawls? or will I experience bad w/ drawls? Right now sometimes I get kinda dizzyish, or electric shocks & can't think at times. What are the withdrawls & how bad can they get? I will be seeing the dr. by this weekend.

A:I was on it and went off of it suddenly, which isn't recommended. I only had withdrawals for 2 days and it was like a panicky feeling. I think you're over the worst of it.

100% Q: i have been off zoloft for about a month now but the sexual side effects have still not gone completel away.?

i was on 100mg's a little more than a month ago. my libido has come back but definitely not the whole amount. has it taken anyone else who has been on zoloft more than a month to get completely back to normal?

A:i too just got off zoloft and the doctor's said that it takes awhile to get out of your system but for me i still feel the side effects ive been off for about a month as well but they are putting me on a new med im only a teen but maybe (for both of us) a new med will help or if they jsut take us off all meds for a while

100% Q: can taking zoloft long term cause permanent side effects?

Can it damage your nervous system? I have been on it 7 years, and I get muscle tic in my head and throught my whole body. It started when I tried to come off zoloft and has not ended. I have had 2 mris one on my brain and one on my spine, but nothing showed up. Could this be damage from the drug? the doctor does not believe it will do this, but recently I have found evidence of many problems with zoloft the doctors are not aware of, how can I tell?
