search engine

A Web search engine is a search engine designed to search for information on the World Wide Web. Information may consist of web pages, images and other types of files. Some search engines also mine data available in newsbooks, databases, or open directories. Unlike Web directories, which are maintained by human editors, search engines operate algorithmically or are a mixture of algorithmic and human input.....

A:Either Google or Yahoo Search has an option for doing a visual search. But, understand, the images that show up are owned by someone else, and, are therefore copyrighted. You can download them for personal use, or for school projects, but not for publishing or resale.

100% Q: My idea of making search engine data on our movement total nonsense and unsellable to advertising agencies?
Take any 10 words from the 3rd paragraph of a story that appears on page 5 of any newspaper - then paste that info into the search engine. Do a search and flick onto the 16th top entry and just leave it there. Hopefully the search engines that follow our movements will think that we are particularly interested in a topic and sell that piece of information on to advertisers not thinking it is pure rubbish. Therefore making a mockery of the search engines data gathering and ultimately unproductive. Have you any ideas?
A:All you have to do is use an 'anonymous proxy' ...for example, http://www.scroogle.org (which has the added advantage of stripping out all the 'paid for' adverts that normally appear at the top of the 'hit list')

100% Q: What are some of the best free search engine submission programs?
I browsed around for some search engine submittors, but they seem to be very expensive. Are there any free websites that submit your domain to search engines? I am looking for a good one that is worth using and that sends my website to some of the best and numerous search engines. Thank you!
A:You can submit your website to the major search engines yourself. Its easy to do, only takes a few minutes and its free. You only need to submit your website to the 4 top search engines, Google, Yahoo, Live and Ask account for 95% of all search engine traffic. There is no need to list your website with thousands of different search engines. The best way to tell the search engines about your website is to place a sitemap file on your website. For information on submiting your website and sitemap to the individual search engines click on the following links. http://www.google.com/support/webmasters http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html http://about.ask.com/en/docs/about/webmasters.shtml http://search.live.com/docs/submit.aspx PS: Google actually recommends NOT to use search engine submission companies.

100% Q: How do I create a search engine directing people to my home business website?
I have started a home business and want people to view my website and do not know how to create a search engine. Can someone tell me how to do this?
A:You don't create a search engine. Instead, you give your URL (web site address) and request the search engines to include you in their databases. Here are the site submission pages of the top search engines: Google http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl Yahoo http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html MSN http://search.msn.com/docs/submit.aspx
