I need to look at different scenerios and I need a program where I can just enter in groups and the program can give me different schedules on its own. A:Hi Jenny, What you require is an auto-scheduling program. However, even such a scheduling program will require that you define the shifts first - there is no way around that. What I can suggest is a scheduler that also includes a template feature. This means that once you set up your basic shifts, you can save it as a template and then reapply the template to all other schedules. You can also create a number of templates and simply apply them for a variety of schedules, saving you the time and hassle later of re-entering employees per shift. 100% Q: Can employers create different schedules for employes based on business needs?

For this specific example: Employees working w/ said company currently work Monday - Friday 9-5. Based on needs of the business, A schedule of Monday-Thursday, Saturday 9-5 needs to be created. 8 slots need to be filled. The employer offers this schedule to the current staff, only 4 accept this new schedule. Is the employer entitled (without being considered discriminatory) to interview/hire new employees on the premise of working this new schedule which is different than the rest of the staff? Anyone familiar w/ specifics of business law or the EEOC who can provide reference would be helpful.

A:There is nothing wrong with different schedules for different needs. The employer is entitled to work a new employee any schedule he wants to.

100% Q: How does Major League Baseball MLB create their schedules?

I know the NFL has a specific formula now that locks in which teams will play each other once the regular season ends (inter-conference play is rotated in a set pattern every year); all that remains is organizing the dates and who is visiting whom. What system does MLB use? How does MLB determine how many games a team will play another team in a season? How does MLB determine what inter-league teams will play each other each season?

A:They play each team in their own division 19 times depending on the division because some divisions have 5 teams, one has 4 teams, and one has 6 teams. They play each team in their league but not in their division 6 - 9 times each. As for interleague play, they each play a natural rival (like Mets-Yankees) 6 times. Then they play 4 other teams 3 times each. I don't know how they decide which 4 teams. It was supposed to be by rotatind divisions like in the NFL, but it doesnt happen that way. Sometimes they play 2 teams in one division and 2 in another. Sometimes I think that the people who make the schedules are drunk when they do it.

100% Q: Hi, how do you create your own schedules?

We've been using a curriculum for these past years. This year, I'd like to do a bunch of unit studies with library books, etc. How do you make your schedule when you don't exactly know which books you'll be using? I know the time period we want to study during the next year (from the american westward expansion to now) and I have an idea on things to concentrate on. Should I take one month at a time? How would you go about scheduling? Do you have any good tips or ideas for me? Thank you so much!

A:Something I've found helpful is The Checklist by Cindy Downes; she's a veteran homeschool mom who is a unit study guru :-) She has several studies on her site, as well as helpful information for how to set one up. The thing I like about The Checklist is that it actually lists pretty much everything you could want to know about a subject - famous people, timelines, geography, scientific discoveries, vocabulary, cultural info, books and authors, composers, famous events...the list goes on and on.
