reticulated python

Python reticulatus is a non-venomous python species found in Southeast Asia. Adults grow to a maximum of more than 32 feet (9.75 m) in length and are probably the world's longest snakes, but not the the most heavily built. They are normally not considered dangerous to man, even though large specimens are powerful enough to kill an adult and attacks are occasionally reported.....

100% Q: How can you tell the difference between a ball ptyhon, a reticulated python, and a boa constrictor?
My boyfriend found a snake on the side of the road... I know a little bit about snakes but not enough to tell the difference in the breeds. It has a dark brown base with lighter brown markings but it does not have the distinctive white spots that a reticulated python has. Nor does it resemble a boa...can anyone tell me how to distinguish the breeds by their markings?
A:A ball python has round brown spots with tan skin and is shorter than the other two. The reticulated python is the largest and is more colorful. It has more browns and yellows. The boa constrictor is the medium sized one and has a broad range of colors from gray to dark brown. It is the most colorful of the three and the easiest to tame. The one your boyfriend found could be a bull snake.

100% Q: Reticulated Python?
How long do they get? Would they eat a large child[5"4',120 lbs]? Will they eat household pets? What size of rabbits do you feed to adults? anything else you know would be helpful as well
A:Dude first off do you have one and have you ever handled a snake like a burmese? The retic will reach over 30 feet, and if you don't tame them down they will become highly aggressive and uncontrolable for not only one person but many. I never get mine out without at least three other men ready to help. I have a 16 foot silver retic that had not been handled before, because they as babies have a biting problem, the best way to get them to overcome it is to ware kavalar gloves so the bite won't hurt as much and handle them. My retic eats a 20 pound pig every other month. If the snakes attacks a person then you have a snake that you must get rid of, send it to a zoo or a reptile rescue like I run.

100% Q: what is an safe power feeding diet for my reticulated python?
i had an ball python witch i would feed once a week i just want my retic to grow at an fast rate
A:Hello; I honestly would highly recommend against power feeding. It is actually quite bad for the health of your animal and seriously shortens the lifespan of your snake. Keep in mind that Reticulated pythons grow rapidly when fed at a healthy rate; so my suggestion would be to feed one appropriately sized prey item every 5-10 days in order to keep your snake in optimum health while still feeding enough that it will grow quickly and steadily. :) For further reading information on Retics; here is a great care sheet for them: http://www.newenglandreptile.com/CareRetic.html I hope this helps, and if you have any further questions at all on the subject; please feel free to message me and I will be more than happy to assist you. Good luck with your Reticulated python!

100% Q: What would be, roughly, the average monthly upkeep cost of a large reticulated python?
To sway my friend from buying one, he thinks they're beautiful, but he doesn't realise the commitment needed.
A:It could cost over $200 a month to take care of it. I take care of mine with premium care and it cost me $375 a month. I wouldn't recommend one. Once you get it you cannot release it it is illegal. Babies cost less though.
