reproductive endocrinologist
Reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) is a surgical subspecialty of obstetrics and gynecology that trains physicians in reproductive medicine addressing hormonal functioning as it pertains to reproduction as well as the issue of infertility. While for most REI specialists treatment of infertility is the main focus, reproductive endocrinologists are trained to also evaluate and treat hormonal dysfunctions in females and males outside of infertility. Reproductive surgeons operate on anatomical disorders that affect fertility. Reproductive endocrinologists have specialty training in obstetrics and gynecology before they undergo sub-specialty training (fellowship) in reproductive endocrinology and infertility.....

100% Q: Becoming a Reproductive Endocrinologist?
I recently graduated high school & I've been going back & forth on my career choice. I don't want to be stuck in something I wouldn't be passionate about. However I've known for a while that I want to be in the Medical Field.
I was wondering how long it takes to become a Reproductive Endocrinologist ? Would I have to be a gynecologist first ?
A:No. First you have to be a college graduate, with a decent MCAT score to get into medical school. After you graduate from medical school, you do your internship and then residency in your specialty field. In your case, you'd do a residency in Endocrinology. Then, after two or three years of that, you would go on to the even more specialized training in Reproductive Endocrinology. You should finish your training and be ready to practice sometime in your early 30's if all works out on time. I hope you have a large bank account as well, or are prepared to be poor for sometime. That's not a cheap life plan while you are in school or training. For right now, I think you should concentrate on college. You may find something that appeals to you even more. Even in medical school, keep an open mind. You have to do rotations in all sorts of things, and most find an area that appeals to them. You may think endocrinology now, but later find you are really fascinated by neurology. So keep an open mind until the time arrives for the decision. You are thinking a little too far ahead of the game at the moment. Good luck, though- and happy studying. You need high scores on the MCAT to get into medical school.

100% Q: When is the right time to see a Reproductive Endocrinologist?
I have been TTC for over 2 years with no luck. My OBGYN put me on clomid without monthly monitoring and I am now on month 4. She said to stick with it for 6 months then go see an RE but I really would like to do more testing besides just blood work. DH's SA came back fine. I haven't had an HSG test or anything like that. I don't know if I am just anxious or should I be patient and listen to my doctor? She said that if this doesn't work in 6 months then she will refer me to a RE.
A:Go see a fertility specialist right away. I changed Dr's 5 times until I found one that I loved and trusted and got my twins on the first try with pergonal and IUI. Alot of them claim to be fertility Dr's but unless they do it all including monitoring etc... they are not. Clomid didn't work for me and the side effects drove me crazy. Good luck and don't give up you will get your baby or babies some day.
