They are giving FREE antibiotics to anyone who brings in a prescription, regardless of financial status or political affiliation. Now, that's what I call the 'true spirit of democracy' at work! smittybo20...Duh!...they don't want your vote...they want your business! ms.nospecial: I don't agree. The quality of their food, their customer service & company policy is much better. And, at least where I live, the stores are cleaner too. Actually, Wal-Mart started it with their $4 generics. Will Walgreens or CVS try to top it? with free vaccines perhaps? hmmm... Kathy...you'll be happy to know that Albertsons no longer requires a card for their sales.

A:Yeah. That free business model worked so well for the 1990's Internet companies. All that free medical care in Canada and elsewhere has worked out so well for their citizenry.

Are they a good company to work for and how much are you making there, as i may be relocating to florida and have supermarket experience and a college degree.

A:my boyfriend is a manager there. he likes it and they have good benefits and wages. tho you have to be full time (40 hrs) in order to get benefits.

50% Q: What is it like to live in Polk County or Lakeland Florida?

I am looking for real people to tell me about the schools, crime rate, community spirit, cool things to do, etc. I have two children, ages 3 and 7. I am interviewing for a job in the area with Publix SuperMarkets. Thanks! I would also like to know about where to buy a house. Maybe new developments or even older developments in good areas of town where the best schools are?

A:Lakeland is very diverse.... Most people who realy dont know Lakeland will say it is one of three things: 1) Large Homeless population in Northern Lakeland 2) Very Urban 3) Very redneck-- (country)... and it is in areas (predominantly Northern Lakeland)... but the South side of Lakeland (near Publix HQ) is extremely nice and a new "desirable" place to live that people are just discovering.... Where Publix corporate offices are is a industrial area bordering the airport ( big but not commercial yet!) just to the Southeast is a new mall area Lakeside and in that area there is new housing and lots of other shops/resturants coming. Downtown Lakeland used to be a real pit but now it is really nice and vibrant. There are alot of well Lakes in the area that are scenic and the lake down by Florida Southern University is fabulous for excersize/ walking. Lakeland is situated halfway between Tampa and Orlando ... you can be in either in 30-45 minutes, and it is about 90 minutes from either coast (maybe a bit longer to Atlantic)... Publix and the Jenkins family almost own the city and alot of the population works for Publix in some capacity. Also check out Plant City... 15 minutes East... very small town feel. just stay away from North Lakeland unless it is very North...

50% Q: If I go to school for pastry chef, which one in South Florida is the quickest?

Also, when I get my degree what is the best approach to open up my own bakery? I have noticed there is not much bakeries out here everybody usually goes to Publix (a supermarket) or walmart. See if I open up one I would start out with wedding cakes since they are custom made. Then hopefully from there I will expand and make for other occasions.

A:Ask the baker where you are working now where he or she went to school. And if you have no one to ask because you have never had a bakery job, Go out and get one. It's a very hard job and you should be sure you like it before you spend your money on school. Making cakes at home is WAY different. Good Luck!
