0% Q: It is true that you can be 14 and be a cashier and bagger in Publix Supermarket?

I would like a job, and have read at the Publix website that you can be 14 to be a bagger or cashier: http://www.publix.com/careers/opportunities/groups/Stores/NonManagement/JobDescriptions.do Is this true? Or does it depends on the Publix? I live in the metro ATL area. I know in Florida you can be a bagger at 14 in Publix, but no sure about Georgia. I know you can work at 14 in GA tho... How much more money does a cashier make than a bagger? I'm good at math, I got a 95 on my last report card. Any feedback is fine. Thanks!

A:Not at 14 Not at any of the stores, sorry Cashier's make about 2-3 times as much as a bagger Start as a bagger, do good work and let them know you want to train for a cashier position

0% Q: I am worried I am taking too many hard classes in high school and putting too much stress on myself.

I will be a freshman in high school in a week. I'm taking the following classes: Honors English Honors Biology Accelerated Algebra I (Honors) AP Human Geo Health/PE Into To Theater ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Going to be on swim team, and may do a high school tune up swimming thing in August & September Going to get a job at Publix(supermarket) as a bagger Going to talent auditons since I am an actor ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ My goal is to get into NYU and double major in journalism and acting. So I would like to study alot. I get out at 2:30 every day. Am I putting too much on myself? I am worried that I'm not going to have ANY social life, if I do all of this. Should I not get a job, or wait and see if I can handle it? Should I wait until I'm a sophmore until I go out for the swim team? What should I get out or keep in? Am I on the right track for NYU? In middle school I got my average from a 3.6 - 4.0 unweighted GPA. I'm always stress when I'm in school and feel if I don't get atleast a 3.6 GPA I will have no choice at NYU. How long will homework/studying take usually and will I have enough time? What is your feeback. Thanks!

A:i say you can never do to much.. always aim high, don't expect little of yourself, always expect more. do hard things, but if it becomes too much stress and it really is affecting you, i say don't have a job.. you are only a freshman and starting out highschool. focus on academics first and when you get more into highschool and know what to expect then get a job.. but i say go for it, never expect so little of yourself, as long as you apply yourself you can accomplish anything!

0% Q: What is it like to live in Polk County or Lakeland Florida?

I am looking for real people to tell me about the schools, crime rate, community spirit, cool things to do, etc. I have two children, ages 3 and 7. I am interviewing for a job in the area with Publix SuperMarkets. Thanks! I would also like to know about where to buy a house. Maybe new developments or even older developments in good areas of town where the best schools are?

A:Lakeland is very diverse.... Most people who realy dont know Lakeland will say it is one of three things: 1) Large Homeless population in Northern Lakeland 2) Very Urban 3) Very redneck-- (country)... and it is in areas (predominantly Northern Lakeland)... but the South side of Lakeland (near Publix HQ) is extremely nice and a new "desirable" place to live that people are just discovering.... Where Publix corporate offices are is a industrial area bordering the airport ( big but not commercial yet!) just to the Southeast is a new mall area Lakeside and in that area there is new housing and lots of other shops/resturants coming. Downtown Lakeland used to be a real pit but now it is really nice and vibrant. There are alot of well Lakes in the area that are scenic and the lake down by Florida Southern University is fabulous for excersize/ walking. Lakeland is situated halfway between Tampa and Orlando ... you can be in either in 30-45 minutes, and it is about 90 minutes from either coast (maybe a bit longer to Atlantic)... Publix and the Jenkins family almost own the city and alot of the population works for Publix in some capacity. Also check out Plant City... 15 minutes East... very small town feel. just stay away from North Lakeland unless it is very North...

I have heard mixed reviews. some people say they are too stressful and the hours are horrible...others say its the easiest job you could have? I'm currently working at publix (supermarket) as a cake decorating apprentice and it is getting very stressful the more and more i am trained...so I was thinking of switching jobs in about another month....would data entry be a good choice? I am 19 and just lookin for a part time job...I start my next semester of college in august. another reason why i want to switch jobs is because i have to get up at 4:45 AM and it is killing me...i have been working there over a month and i still can not get used to the hours...usually its 6-3. And, once i am fully trained, i will be working every weekend...I'm 19, and want to enjoy my life...not mentioning my boyfriend is in the Army...leaving for Iraq in a few months and the only time i get to see him is on the weekends....well not when i'm working!! and i have been working weekends even before i am fully trained...i heard you work only mon-fri for most data entry jobs?

A:I have done data entry. There will be pressure. You will be expected to do their quota (speed and accuracy). The longer you have been there the more that is expected of you. Also you are already using your mind a fair bit with school so it is better that your job lets you "rest your brain a little." Cake decorating will not be so stressful once you get the hang of it. (I have done it myself too). All jobs are demanding in the beginning. Can you not get your hours changed once you are trained?
