plane flight path

United Airlines Flight 175 was a scheduled U.S. domestic passenger flight from Logan International Airport in Boston, Massachusetts to Los Angeles International Airport. It was hijacked by five men and deliberately flown into the South Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City as part of the September 11, 2001 attacks. Over thirty minutes into the flight, the hijackers forcefully breached the cockpit and overpowered the pilot and first officer. Marwan al-Shehhi, who was trained as a pilot, took over the controls. Air traffic controllers noticed the flight was in distress when the crew stopped responding to them. Several passengers and crew aboard made phone calls from the plane and provided information about the hijackers and injuries to passengers and crew.....

100% Q: Does anyone know what typical percentage of flight a plane is off path?
I mean due to weather conditions :)
A:There is a thing called Navigation Performance Required (RNP). Every airline can ask an RNP certification from it's aviation authorities. They need to prove that they can perform operations for 95% within the given RNP certification. For example, if you are RNP 10 certified, you must stay within 10 Nautical Miles (both left and right so a 20NM zone) of your planned flight path for 95% of your flight. If there's a very busy section of airspace, the authorities can demand a minimum performance, in order to reduce the lateral separation between aircraft in order to increse the amount of aircraft that can operate within that sector. So you aren't off flightpath as long as you stay within your RNP boundery. so the answer to your question is about 99-95%

100% Q: At an airport, which plane causes wake turbeulence in the departure flight path ?
What other factors apart from weather and wake turbulence contributes to air turbulence during flight ?
A:The plane ahead of another causes wake turbulence. Some computer malfunctions contribute to turbulence (possibility in Air Canada flight 190, but very rare). CAT (Clear air turbulence) is un-detectible, but weather related.

100% Q: Parabolic Rocket Flight Path Challenge Question?
Given: Angle of Launch is Θ; 0° < Θ < 90° Velocity of Launch is V For simplicity, gravity causes objects to fall at 5t² meters, where t is the number of seconds the object has fallen. No air/wind effects Landing location is the same elevation as launch location on a flat plane. Flight path is in 2 dimensions. Express in terms of V and Θ: Total number of seconds the rocket is in flight Total number of meters the rocket travels horizontally Total number of meters above ground the rocket reaches at its highest point Thanks for your consideration! Perhaps Dr. D is suggesting it's not really a challenge question...Well, Okay. I already know the answers, and I'm challenging my precalculus students to produce them, and I wanted to see if Yahoo! Answerers thought it as challenging as they. Apparently you don't. In that context, maybe your answers will be different. Thanks!
A:The first step is to determine total flight time. The rocket will reach apogee at exactly 1/2 the total flight time. using v(t)=v*sin(Θ)-10*t set v(t)=0 and solve for t t=v*sin(Θ)/10 soo the total flight time is 2*v*sin(Θ)/10 Horizontal motion is x(t)=v*cos(Θ)*t plug in th eflight time for t x(range)=v*cos(Θ)*2*v*sin(Θ)/10 simplify x(range)=v^2*2*sin(2*Θ)/10 y(t)=v*sin(Θ)*t-5*t^2 to find the apogee, plug in t at apogee v*sin(Θ)/10 y(apogee)=v^2*sin^2(Θ)/10-5*v^2*sin^2(Θ)/100 simplify y(apogee)=v^2*sin^2(Θ)/20 j

100% Q: How to land a plane in Flight Simulator 2004 or X ?
Given: Air Speed : 200 knots Altitude of Flight : 8000 ft Airport Distance from current flight path : 60 n.miles Altitude of Airport : 0 ft Additional Details : Clear weather, no winds, etc to worry about. Question: What should be my rate of descent to land on the airport ? Is there a formula to calculate rate of descent. Should I climb up or down to use that rate of descent. Please help. I know for sure that this is the question everyone is asking to enjoy FS04 of FSX. Yes, i have used the Flight lessons, most of them are boring!! Does it matter what kind of plane i am flying as long as i am maintaining the required speed. Assume I am playing a jet, if you need that info.
A:You're a bit too high and too far out from the field to only be at 200 knots, unless of course you're in a small, light plane (you didn't specify). Proper rate of descent is going to depend on what type of aircraft you're flying.
