46% Q: switch to health HSA before i cancel Oxford health plan.Shall i still pay the premium for the overlapped month
change my health plans to HSA ( high savings account) of Golden Rule insurance company on Jan.31,2007 and cancel my prior plans with Oxford sometime on Feb. 2007. Oxford still wants me to pay the premium of Feb. I refused. Oxford now are lawsuiting me. Shall i pay them?
A:If you have a broker/agent, get them involved. In Ohio, we typically just tell clients to stop paying the previous insurer and by default that cancels the policy...I have never seen what is happening to you.
Here are some things to consider.
Is Oxford demanding payment because they bill 30 late....In other words, is the bill they are coming after you for actually for the coverage you received in January - if so - Pay it.
Did you or anyone else use the Oxford benefits in the month of Feb? If so, you better pay it.
If the answer is no to the above questions, call them and ask them what is going on.....Email me and I would be happy to discuss this with you privately....

50% Q: Need help in individual health plan which covers infertility?
Hi,
I am staying in Connecticut state and looking for an individual health insurance plan which covers infertility especially IVF. I currently hold Oxford Health Plan (Group) which is provided by my employer.
Please help me in providing details of any individual insurance plans which cover infertility in Connecticut state.
Thanks
A:I am an insurance specialist in Michigan, so I cannot say exactly for your state, but in Michigan there are very few insurance plans that cover anything for infertility. I know Blue Cross covers 50% of infertility treatments, but that EXCLUDES IVF. So I would be very cautious when checking into plans, as they may state coverage for infertility treatment, but may have an exclusion for IVF.
Best of luck to you!!

53% Q: Need help w/ Oxford Health Insurance (Freedom Plan)...???
My employer just gave me Oxford Health Insurance but they said that I have a $2,000 deductible. What does that mean? I already have my id card so can I go to the doctor without paying? Also..can I get birth control for free now or do I have to pay? Please help...I'm confused as to what benefits I get...
PS- I chose a in-network doctor
A:Oxford has several type of freedom plans. You have one of the following two:
A. Your $2000 deductible applies to ALL in network services (varying on the pharmacy. sometimes you can get prescription benefits before paying the 2K). Prior to getting a red cent of coverage you need to incur two thousand dollars of medical expenses. This can be a combination of doctor's visits, hospitals, ER etc. After you've met the deductible you're good to go until January 2008 when it goes back to the full amount again.
B. The deductible of $2000 applies to inpatient hospital, outpatient hospital, major lab (MRI, CAT Scan, Ultrasound etc) but anything done in a doctors office itself (or minor bloodwork) is covered immediately subject to copay. Benefits for ER are sometimes subject to deductible, sometimes they have an independent copay. If you have plan B you will continue to pay unlimited copays for doctor's visits even after you've long met the two thousand bucks.
Find out if your plan is an HSA (Health Savings Account). You might be able to put away pretaxed dollars towards the deductible.
(Plans vary. this is just standard information to give you an idea. Contact your agent for specifics or check your benefit book.)

50% Q: What health insurance plan would be right for me?
This is a very complex question, I realize, but I'm a little lost since I am a Canadian and have not had to deal with the American health system before. I'm on a work visa in New York City and plan to stay here.
I'm 24 and I have no dependents. I am very healthy - I only ever go to the doctor or the dentists for check-ups, and have no diseases or conditions an insurance company might consider a liability. I work in a very small literary agency (my boss, the agent, and me, her assistant). We're both wondering if we can get a lower rate than what we have right now, with Oxford Health Plans. For those of you who know the system better than me, what company do you think would offer the lowest rate for me?
Thank you so much!
Becky
