100% Q: Is evilest a word?
This is a list of sites, which recognize evilest as a word. http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/evilest http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/evilest http://www.bartleby.com/cgi-bin/texis/webinator/sitesearch?FILTER=col61&query=evilest http://www.yourdictionary.com/ahd/e/e0255300.html http://www.onelook.com/?w=Evilest&ls=a http://encarta.msn.com/dictionary_/english.html http://kids.yahoo.com/reference/dictionary/english/entry/evil Yet when I used Evilest in a recent question, I got alot of feedback that mocked my grammar. I believe evilest is a word because it is in every dictionary that I have found, what do you think? Here is a couple of sentences which use evilest in a gramatically correct manner: 1. Of the two dictators, I believe that Hitler is evilest. 2. The evilest man in the world was Kit carson. Evil is not just a noun. Stop saying that because its not true. Evil can also be an adjective.
A:People get stuck in arut with regard to English. If enough people want to use a word, that word becomes part of the language. As a person who studies languages and semantics, I agree with you. Evilist is a great word! Pity those poor folks that cannot accept new or changed words - 'tis thy way of advance, methinks!

100% Q: Bush wants 21,500 troops sent to Iraq, so how many soldiers is that?
Am I retarded or what for thinking this, but I really don't ever remember the word "troop" changing its definition to mean a single person or soldier. When did that officially happen? The word "trooper" has always seemed to be the appropriate word to use. The word "troop" is a group of people, or soldiers (cavalry). Here are a few real examples: ETACO http://www.ectaco.com/English-English-Dictionary/ Troop = a "group" of people (group equals min. of 3) 21.500 X 3 = 64500 Webster http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/troop Troop = a group of soldiers (two or more...) 21.500 X 2 = 43000 ENCARTA http://encarta.msn.com/encnet/features/dictionary/DictionaryResults.asp x?refid=1861722098 Troop = a Large Group (At least 4) 21.500 X 4 = 86000 An online list of all legitimate the definitions of the word "TROOP" can be found here... http://www.onelook.com/?w=troop&ls=a This website here... http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=troop&r=66 ...really shows what the word TROOP means. Up to 5 boyscouts!! So if you replied without any research to backup your answer, then shame on you. Singular - Troop Plural - Troops Individual - Trooper
A:You have to understand that it was George W Bush that said it. He's not the brightest bulb in the pack ya know. :-) Your research was excellent, by the way.
