100% Q: Travel Requirements for a Cruise to Mexico?

Current status : Permanent Resident of USA although carry Indian passport. Issue : My passport has expired and is in a process of Renewal. Question : Can I still be able to go on a cruise with a valid Green card. Is passport mandatory in this case? The rule mentions that for Permanent Resident , it is not required. However, I need to confirm this. Also would this cause any issue when I am in Mexico? Has anyone been in this situation before.

A:Passports are NOT yet needed to trvel by SEA to Mexico...date has NOT yet beeb sert for ths even tho some travel agencies say differently. Yhey are WRONG. See site below and read top half of page for correct, current info. U.S. permanent residents are subject to exactly the same rules as AMerican citizens when they visit Mexico...so you will have NO problem in Mexico. Some cruise lines want passengers to have passports...so you need to call your cruise line and ask what their policy is.

I am getting married in Mexico and my friend who wants to go is not a US Citizen but has a Green Card. Does anyone know what type of travel documents she needs in order to go to Mexico and back? She is a citizen of Mexico. Thanks

A:If you are fly/ing to mexico, your friend will need to use her Mexican passport and carry her green card. Passports are mandatory for everyone flying between the U.s. and Mexico.l For some reason MANY people who have green cards in the U.s. seem to think they no longer need to keep their passports from their home country...but they DO! Actually, they are required to. If your friend does not have a Mexican passport, she will need to contact the nearest Mexican embassy or consulate to apply for one. If you are driving to Mexico, passports are not needed until after summer 2008. See 1st website below for passport regs, read top half of page for current info. See 2nd site for list of Mexican consulates in the U.S. in case your friend needs it. The other answerer is mistaken..of course she needs to carry her Mexican passport with her...just having it is not magic, you must have it WITH you to fly internationally...just like you will need an American passport if you fly.

A:Need for a passport has nothng to do with how long you go to Mexico for. The requirements state that if you are flying to and from Mexico, you must have a passport. If you drive, for now, you just need a birth certificate and picture I.D. After next January, you must have a passport for any type of travel to and from Mexico. I'm an Aussie who has been traveling around both Canada and America for the past 5months, with a 12 month working visa to Canada & a 12month visitors visa for America, so I don't have that 3month visa waiver which allows multiple entries into Canada, USA & Mexico for 90 days. I was wondering if there were any visa requirements to travel to Mexico and I'm looking at taking a day trip to Tijuana while in the Southern California area.
