A:I travel back and forth from Mexico and the US all the time. Whenever I go to the US, I show my american passport and I pass with no problem. Whenever I go to Mexico, I just show my mexican passport once I get there. My Mexican Passport expired almost 5 years ago and i have not renewed it because well, you don't really need to ever renew it xD.I need to show it once I get here to Mexico otherwise I think they would send me back to the US. My answer to you would be to get a Mexican Passport. It's not that expensive and will arrive in a pretty short time plus, you won't really need to renew it again if it expires. A:You will not be able to travel to any other country without your passport. You will not be allowed on an international flight. You cut it REALLY close going to Mexico on the 30th without a passport. You will be allowed to fly back to the U.S. with your proof of application, but nowhere else. And...there is no guarantee that passport is going to arrive at your home in 4 to 6 weeks. If your mother is going to mail you your passport, she will need to send it through Fed-ex or you are VERY unlikely to ever get it. It is possible to go to the American Embassy in Mexico City and get an emergency passport in one or two days, but I am not sure if they would do that while your other one is pending in the states, but you could ask. The regulations say that you do not need a passport for land travel to and from Mexico until Jan. 2008. It does not hurt to have one, but it is not required. Be sure to have a certified copy of your birth certificate and a photo I.D. I am an American living in Mexico and have travelled bck and forth and not been asked to show ANY I.D....but you should be prepared. Also...don't wait any later than October to apply for a passport to be ready for next year.
