100% Q: Did anyone go to an Online College for Medical Office Administration?
I applied to an online college in order to study Medical Office Administration. I was just wondering if anyone else has gone the online college route for this particular program and if so, how did you find the experience?
A:I haven't yet, but I always wanted to study Medical Office Administration, since I successfully finished the home-based training courses in Medical Claims & Billing and Medical Transcription.

100% Q: Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration: Is this a good choice for a job path?
I'm a young mother with two kids. My fiancee works during the days but we need a supplemental income to help pay the bills and take some pressure off of us. There's a small medical school nearby that offers a medical insurance billing and office administration program. It's approx. 7 months or so (I believe) and you go m-th from 6-10. They help with career placement after you're done with the program. When all is said and done I need a job that can have a somewhat flexible schedule (I love staying home with my girls as much as possible) that pays decent. If you know anything about this field, PLEASE- pass on the knowledge! I could really use some advice here. I've already been to college and had no idea what I wanted to major in and just wasted time and money. I don't want to do this again. So yeah- if you've got any info on this field please share :) thanks all!

100% Q: which career choice is more rewarding to my future???
im having trouble deciding to go to school, for a medical office administration program.. or medical coding and billing program...does anyone kno which one is better in the long run/??
A:If you can do billing, you will have to know coding. In order to get the bills paid by the insurance companies, you have to make sure the codes are correct. Office billers are often working with the doctors on what billing codes are going to work best for insurance purposes. Also billers understand that if you fill under Medicare with one code it gets paid, but if you file it with another insurance company for the same condition you need asnother code to get paid. Additionally, as the first responder recommended, take some office administration courses along the way. It is the best way to move up to clinic manager. By the way, at my offices, I never had a coder, I always had the medical billing person do the coding...just a hint. Coders are often used by insurance companies though, and an insurance executive may have a different perspective.
