100% Q: What medical advice would you give for these symptons?
My mam has been ill for a couple of years now, its not constant but every few months it will hit it. She gets severe head aches and dizziness to the point where she cant take a single step without toppling over and the pain in her head has drove her to be physically sick. She also gets ringing in her ears. She has been for numerous scans but the doctors are extremely uninterested and unhelpful. Obviously we are concerned about her and want to sort this out as soon as possible. At first she was diagnosed as having meniere's disease or a form of that and was given medication, unfortunately it didnt work and the doctors admitted this was a wrong diagnosis. Has anyone else experienced these symptons before? If so, how were they resolved? Or does anyone with a medical background have any advice for us? Thank you
A:The amount of information given here makes it very hard to diagnose this. From what you have described it sounds like the problem could be food allergy, weak adrenal glands, and possibly pour digestion. If your mam is over 40, it could be hormone imbalance (and this could be related to food allergy). The doctors are not interested because they probably have no clue and do not want to be embarrassed or go to the trouble of figuring the problem out in a few minutes so it is not worth their time. They figure if they can't figure something out in a few minutes, they are losing money. I would like to try and figure this one out, but need more information. E-mail me and give more details.

100% Q: is it free for all international students to seek medical advice in the uk?
hi guys, i just want to know that if it is free for all international students to seek medical advice/ treatment in the uk? if yes then up to what level? i mean simple general advice, full treatment, operations etc if not then how can they have this done? e.g insurance or something?
A:The NHS (National Health Service) provides free and subsidised treatment for people who live in the UK. As an international student, you may be entitled to NHS treatment if you are: - Enrolled on a course lasting for six months or more; - Enrolled on a full-time course in Scotland, no matter how long it lasts. If your course is less than six months long, you may still be eligible for treatment under the NHS if you are from a country that has a reciprocal health agreement with the UK (See the website below for more details about this). http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/Policyandguidance/Healthadvicefortravellers/Gettingtreatmentaroundtheworld/Otherreciprocalagreements/index.htm To receive any treatment through the NHS, firstly you have to be registered with a doctor (GP). You should register with a local GP as soon as you have a permanent address - don't wait until you are ill. A list of local GPs is available from public libraries, and the student services at your university/college should be able to help you further. If you live in halls, the management usually has arranged for the students to register with the nearest practice. Alternatively you can phone NHS Direct at 0845 4647. Once you register and receive your NHS card, don't forget to take the card with you whenever you go to see your doctor or any other NHS health-care provider (e.g. a dentist or an optician). If you are not entitled to NHS treatment you will have to pay the full cost of any treatment you receive in the UK. This can be expensive, so make sure you have medical insurance that covers you while you're living abroad.

100% Q: Why do people seek medical advice for their kids from us bozos on Yahoo Answers?
Okay, I understand some people have no medical insurance, but even then you're better off doing a search on a respectable site like webmd than asking random people on the internet with no qualifications or accountability whatsoever. I can't help wondering how many kids have suffered some horrible consequence from a parent's following the advice of a well-meaning random person who doesn't know what they're talking about? Shouldn't we all refuse to answer any medical question with anything beyond "ask the pediatrician?" Does anybody else stress out about this??? Gosh, popular opinion is definitely against me on this one. I totally agree with the comment about teenagers asking questions that they're too embarrassed to ask about elsewhere -- that's different. But if another mom asks me what medication to give her kid, and I tell her some otc thing that worked for my child, and her kid is has some other health issue that I don't know about that that makes worse, or is taking some medicine that conficts with that, I've just caused a major problem. I have no problem with new parents asking if poop is supposed to be green. I have a problem with people recommending medicines -- whether over the counter or not. I also can't help mentioning that while I'm in fact a parent, you have no evidence whatsoever I'm not a 10-year-old, or suffering from severe mental illness, or an axe-murderer. We wouldn't let a random stranger off the street take care of our kids. Why would we let them give us medical advice for our kids? Again, I understand the money thing, but find a reputable website!
A:I hear ya! I think too many moms think they're 'overqualified' at times to give advice on things that go beyond parenting. I mean let's face it, if we could do a doctor's job, none of us would be going to them, right? Personally, if one of mine gets really sick, I want to know that the person treating them has a medical degree, not just the fact that they've had a baby!

100% Q: Why do people ask for medical advice on the internet?
No offense, but I wouldn't trust any of you to make me a sandwich, let alone give me complex medical advice. Why do people think this is a good idea?
A:People do it as some of the advice offered is very good advice but unfortunately a lot of it is junk advice but it is all free advice. People also do it to avoid a visit to their doctor and some people ask for advice as their doctor has been unable to help them. Most doctors don't believe in alternative medicine and some people do so they ask questions under Alternative Medicine.
