50% Q: How do I verify Driving directions I got on a site like google maps or mapquest?
Hello,
I do not own a GPS or cell phone with maps so I have to go off internet directions for now. I want to go to the Playdium in MIssisauga Ontario (from Niagara Falls, NY), I am unfamiliar with canadian highways. I would like to make sure these directions are correct before setting out, because sometimes sites like mapquest tend to not be specific enough or they lead you in a wrong direction sometimes, how do I do this, thanks!
A:Best to check 2 or 3 sites. i have found this one to be best.

33% Q: Can I map several sets of directions on one map using google maps or mapquest or anything?
im doing a school on Alberta and need to map all my stops and show the route in red, but can i use google maps or mapquest and show all my stops on one map?
A:You can use Microsoft Streets & Trips 2008 to chart multiple routes to/from the same locations
I also believe on Mapquest, you are able to manually redirect your route.
Good luck!

50% Q: How did people travel in the US before mapquest, google maps and yahoo maps?
Did they use hard copies of maps for driving directions? They sure did not have the luxury of printed driving directions or GPS as we do these days!
A:We grabbed an atlas and planned the trip as best we could before we left. Some of us would even check out an alternate route, just in case we found out that the first route wasn't the best idea.
You had to buy updated atlases every year, though, because a zone that wasn't under construction when you bought the first atlas might be later. Or a highway that was still being built when you had the first atlas might be finished.
But some people will still use an atlas. When one of my brothers drove an 18-wheeler just a couple of years ago, he had an atlas because he hadn't worked long enough to save up the money for a GPS unit. GPS is more convenient because of the spoken, turn-by-turn directions, sure...but it's enitrely possible to travel without the thing and still reach your destination without any problems.

33% Q: why are the estimated driving times different in google maps and mapquest?
if you look up the driving time between the same two cities in first google maps, and then mapquest, you'll find that the estimated time is almost always longer in google maps than in mapquest. sometimes, the estimated time in google maps is SIGNIFICANTLY longer.
what is the reason behind this discrepancy?
A:Dude! I KNOW!!! The last time I used mapquest for a trip it was over 100 miles off, and I followed the directions EXACTLY!!! I would suggest using anything but mapquest.

33% Q: How Do I get corrected an inacccurate address location on mapquest and google maps & GPS devices?
When you type my address into google maps or mapquest it gives the wrong location. This is namely due to the fact that the street I live on was built 5 years ago. It is an extentsion of an existing street and it shows up on the aerial photos if you change to that view. Is there anyway to contact the vendors who provide this info. to Google, MapQuest and other GPS devices. If people use what is there, they wind up on the wrong side of a busy street and it is one of those "you can't get there from here" situations, w/o doing a lot of turns.
Many thanks.
A:There are two companies who provide the majority of the street data to the GPS companies and companies providing mapping services like Google Maps, Yahoo Maps, and MapQuest. Those two companies are Tele Atlas and NAVTEQ. Both of those companies have online tools where you can report errors found in their databases.
Typically the GPS device or the mapping service will have a copyright tag somewhere that will indicate which mapping service they got their data from. For example Garmin, Magellan, and the Google Maps website use NAVTEQ data primarily. TomTom, Mio, and the Google Maps API use Tele Atlas data.
You can read a comparison of the two companies here:
http://www.gpsreview.net/navteq-vs-tele-atlas/
For Tele Atlas corrections you can report them via their MapInsight program here:
http://mapinsight.teleatlas.com/
For NAVTEQ corrections you can report them via their MapReporter program here:
http://mapreporter.navteq.com/dur-web-external/
In both cases those companies go through lots of work to evaluate the validity of changes before they are implemented. Also it can take a long time for the downstream provider (Google Maps, etc) to *implement* changes they receive from the vendors, even if the vendor accepts the change quickly. In other words if you submit a correction today, don't expect to see that change reflected tomorrow... or next week... in some cases it can take a year or more to validate a change, distribute the new information, and have the downstream provider implement that change.
