A:I have been taking it long term....4 1/2 years to be exact. I take it because I am always tired and have no "get up and go" on my own. I too do not take it on the weekends and have spells where I go off of it for a few weeks in between prescriptions. I lost about 20 lbs to begin with, I have maintained my weight since then maybe dropping a few pounds here and there. It is used for people who have narcolepsy, sleep apnia and also used for people who work the graveyard shift. It stimulates your central nervous system and makes you more alert and have more energy.
