What is your favorite grocery store for vegetarian/vegan specialty items? Some of the stores in my area that have a great stock of veg foods are: Kroger Whole Foods (out of my way, but a wonderful store) The Fresh Market

A:Wow- this is actually a hard question for me. I shop at a lot of different stores b/c they carry different products. Meijer actually has great prices on tofu and refrigerated soy meat substitutes, but their selection isn't that of Kroger's. Kroger has a great selection, but their prices are a bit high. On the flip, they have GREAT sales on my vegan food sometimes! There is also a Mom & Pop natural food store that I patronize called Bassett's. They have *really* hard to find foods and other natural items. I don't have a favorite actually. I like them all for different reasons and at different times. :-)

Freddy Kroger. Kroger is the name of a very powerful nationwide supermarket chain, and we all know about Freddy Kruger. So, I just thought I'd so a little play on words.

I'm cooking a tuna casserole which includes 1/2 cup white wine, and before I start shopping for the ingredients can some one tell me how much a good bottle of white whine costs at a supermarket like Kroger or Wal-Mart?

A:You can use broth instead of white wine... but a decent wine look for something at $8 and up.

100% Q: Have you ever bought anything at your local supermarket that was "reduced for quick sale"?

This can include meat, vegetables, dairy, etc. My local Kroger puts perishables on sale for a fraction of the cost shortly before they expire. Last night, I saw some cubed steaks that were half off becuase the sell by date is the 16. They were practically green with discoloration. They also had half and half (light cream) that was nearly 75% off because it expired today. Who actually buys this stuff??

A:I don't because I know I won't eat it fast enough and most of it will be wasted anyway. I'm the person you see digging at the back of the shelves for the freshest stuff lol.
