100% Q: Who would REALLY like to help the kids on this site looking for homework help?

I have noticed a general distatse on the site for kids looking for "quick fix" answers to questions by going on the Yahoo answers website. My feeling is the best way to help kids on this site is to give them additional resources, and have them research the answers for themselves. I'm even thinking of creating a resource webpage if I 1) can't find a site that already fills this need, and 2) get some really good resource websites. If you had to pick one good website for the subject you or your child has the most problems with, what would it be? 100% Q: How much homework does your kids have vs what grade they are in?

I really want to know how much homework your kids have when they come home from school everyday. (Well or how much they just had!) I don't remember ever having the homework my kids have. I will start - mine are in 3rd and 4th grade. 3rd grader has this math assignment every single night (it is one of two papers) even on Fridays and is supposed to read for about a half an hour. 4th grader has math of about 30 problems (pre-algerba) spelling words written 5x each (10 words) and has so to read for about that same half an hour. Also on Fridays too. I never understood the reading thing, they read for like an hour everyday IN school, both my boys read well above their grade levels. I think it is too much homework myself. How does your kids school stack up? Oh and what state do you live in? (I live in Wyoming)

A:I have found that it often isn't the grade, it is the school. Some schools emphasize "study hall" or a "study period" where students can work on homework. (Especially in schools where athletics are pushed.) This is great for students who otherwise would be too busy for schoolwork or don't have a good home environment to focus. Some teachers "allow" students to choose whether to work on homework at school. This is when you see the students' personality come out - some will tackle homework to be done, others will read instead and take homework home. Outside of school reading time - do your kids read in the car? Count That. Is the time based on a week? Divide up the total time for that week. My kids are now 23, 17, 11. We've lived in 7 school districts, and almost always it was my kid making choices about homework. Math almost always has daily worksheets, same for foreign language. Spelling is assigned usually on Mondays - students can often work ahead. Don't stress - I hate homework too.

I was just wondering. I myself have a slight problem with transposing letters because of a learning disability..although it never kept me back in school. But i've see other "ladies"(usign the term loosely) who have not only jumped on other peoples spelling and such..but continued on to mispell commonly used words like"imbarrassed" which is spelled "embarrassed". If you don't know do you tell your kids the wrong answer or what...Me I would say "well im not sure lets find out together"

A:I do help my daughter with her homework and I do tell her that mommy doesn't remember some things so I have to read her text books as well just to be sure I know what I'm talking about. I've also ordered a few of the teachers books to go with her text books. I also have issues with people's spelling. My favorite is the misuse of "their" "they're" "there".

100% Q: Isn't it pathetic how kids are using "Yahoo! Answers" to get word-for-word answers for their homework?

where i come from, that's called plagarism. and what's more pathetic is that half the time they misspell things and have grammatical errors while asking their questions! no wonder they're stupid. they're having someone else do their homework! i haven't answered any of those questions, so you can stop telling me not to answer them. you can see by checking my profile that i haven't answered any of them. and i'm not talking about math problems or anything either. i'm talking about when they say "who was ___" or "when did ___ occur?" that's stuff they could just as easily look up, but they just aren't taking the time to do it.

A:I just told someone to do their own homework. Yes, it is pathetic. The questions they ask aren't even that hard. In the time it takes them to ask the question and get the right answer they could have done the homework themselves.
