kids homework help
Homework, or homework assignment, refers to tasks assigned to students by their teachers to be completed mostly outside of class, and derives its name from the fact that most students do the majority of such work at home. Common homework assignments may include a quantity or period of reading to be performed, writing or typing to be completed, problems to be solved, a school project to be built (such as a diorama or display), or other skills to be practiced.....

100% Q: As a teenager, how much could I charge per hour to help younger kids with their homework/schoolwork?
I'm 15, going in to tenth grade but I'm ahead in a lot of subjects. I want to help kids with their homework, anything but science.
I'd be tutoring anywhere from first to sixth grade, and I have a strong grasp of the core concepts behind things, meaning I know I could actually help the kids understand their work instead of just completing it and parroting the answers.
How much would you pay a polite, punctual, not-scary-looking teen to help your kid?
A:Woo the parents.
Come across as patient, understanding and caring. After some time has passed- ask about progress.
If my kid is failing- and I knew I just did not have the time to sit and help them with thier home work. I would pay $8-$10 an hour- but expect only an hour's of work at a tme.
(Like help them study for the test tomorrow, help them write a a one-time paper, etc.)
If your services are something like : 'I will show up 3 times a week to help them with thier homework at 4pm for 1-2 hours- $10 an hour would begin to pile up- and I would start to think that it was too much.
If you plan to spend a lot of time with the child- I would look for a small discount because of the amount of money I am shelling out..
You should be paided MORE then babysitting- because you are in essence babysiting AND teaching.

100% Q: What in the heck are all these kids doing asking for homework help???
why are all these lazy lazy kids asking for answers to their homework? it sounds like they haven't read the books, haven't listened in class, haven't bothered to do ANYTHING??? God help us if these are the lazy folks planning to run the country one day.
A:It is one thing to use the Internet for research purposes and another to just plainly ask a question and get the answer.
I blame the parents who let their kids have access to the Internet without supervision and do not monitor their child's homework.
When my daughters come home from school, they have their snack, and then take out their homework. I look it over and ask if they need help. If not, then they do their homework at the table while I start preparations for dinner. If they do need help, then either I help them or if I can't then we look up the information together either on the Internet or at the library (we are fortunate to have a library 3 minutes down the road from us).
My daughters' teachers make all the parents sign the homework papers just so they know that the parents at least looked at it.
I notice a lot of parents don't even know what their children are currently doing in school though. It is sad.

100% Q: Does anyone else think its wrong to help all these kids with their homework?
I see that a lot of kids post their homework questions on yahoo answers and people just give them the answers. Doesn't this bother anyone else? I mean, these kids don't have to study, think, or learn anything for themselves. All they are learning is that its easy to cheat and coast through life. The math and science sections are where I'm most disgusted by this. After all, these are the subjects where children are supposed to learn how to think critically and draw conclusions. Parents, any thoughts?
A:My thoughts exactly!
I respond to those questions with-do your own homework, pay attention in class, and read your textbook.
What they are doing is no different than cheating on a test or copying someone else's paper.
I have a 13 year old and last year she would read(she said) her history lesson but had no clue as to the answers for the review Q's.
I showed her how to scan the chapters for the info and read it over. she did and ended up with all A's and B's at the end of the year, in fact she got an award for
"Most Improved"
I also told her that after studying she still could not answer the question or solve the math, to ask the teacher the next day. She did and discovered that this was acceptable and then had no problem doing it from than on.
The kids who do it on here do so because people give them answers, most likely other kids who are trying to SHOW how SMART they are. I think it makes them feel good about them selves because they can help. (IRONIC huh, cause it doesn't really help the asker learn how to study)

100% Q: Do you think that you help those kids whose homework you do just to get 10 lousy points?
I am a teacher and I can "smell", from a distance, homework that is taken from the Internet or done by other people. If you do somebody's homework, trust me, you don't help at all, you just cause more problems.
Now, now, Dako, how do you think that I discover the homework that is NOT done by the students? I check it carefully, that's how. And, many times, some strangers who want to help (yeah, right...) give them the wrong answer.

Thank you all for taking your time to answer this question. Many answers made me see that there still are a lot of responsible people out there, on both sides (teachers and students). I had to choose the one who actually admitted that he was guilty as charged.
A:Ya got me! It's not about the points; it makes me feel good when I know the answer, just like back in school. Only no one asks me for the root causes of the Spanish-American War at work, more's the pity. I know in my heart I'm not helping them. I just like the exercise. Guess you'll just have to keep failing kids that plagiarize, even from middle age history geeks like me!
