I was told there was a very nice Japanese car that came out in the 80's - 90's but is baned from import to the (Now) US Due to too much Horsepower or something like that. So if you can please name the car and reason for ban.

A:Some of the great Japanese cars where never released worldwide and what tends to happen is some countries don't allow imports until a certain age.This is due to many factors. The horsepower side isn't really a reason it is often down to safety rules that differ between countries and also emissions. The most famous version or most known are some Nissan Skyline models. Engines often differ between countries also this is down to speed limits as well as engines not selling well in different countries. examples are the Supra the UK version is a faster engine than the Japanese version,the 180sx didn't sell well in the US and many makers refused to sell turbo models years ago to the US market as they where a bad seller add a na engine then it would sell but for a period of time turbo's where hated on the US market and had limit sales. This was the same story with a good few models you see out there.

Both American and Japanese automakers have their manufacturing plants in Canada why is that American cars are often considered Canadian and government pours millions of dollars to bail them out of market crunch while Japanese cars are considered alien and are ignored by government? American automakers are foreigners just like Japanese automakers. With the decline in American cars' sales and shutting down of their plants, why doesn't government encourage and support Japanese automakers to help them build more manufacturing plants in Canada and create jobs for unemployed autoworkers?

When I traveled in Japan,I saw many used cars on sale. Almost these cars are new and fashion looks like not an old car. Does Japanese buy a new car and use it just few years like 3 three years then sold it and buy another new one?

A:There are several reasons. Japanese like new one. The price of cars are probably cheapest in the Asia (cos no need to worry importing tax. and other car related taxes are also cheap. Even imported car, like Mercedes and BMW are cheaper than Taiwan and Singapore). And another reason is there is special loan system. It is difficult to explain, but something like this. If the price of a new car is US$40,000, people in the world usually have to pay US$40,000+tax+ other expenses. But some car dealers in Japan deduct "resale price" first. eg. You may be able to sell the car with US$20,000 price in 2 or 3 years later. The dealer deduct this price first, then you can purchase the new car with US$20,000+tax+ expenses only. If you brought the car to the same dealer 2 years later, you can buy new model with 50% price again (real contract is more complex. There are also some risks. But outline is like this). The loan disappear within the years (2 or 3 years). That is why young people can ride new car every a few years..
