A:All big companies will support both candidates to one degree or another. Defense lawyer organizations give most of their support to Democrats while prosecutors typically give most to Republicans but both give some to the other. No company is going to upset the other guy in case in he wins. Excess profit taxes like any other tax on a business large or small will be passed on the the customer because that is where a company gets the money from which means prices just go up more. The silly "look how much profit they made" is politicking by the Congress and is both inaccurate and false-a company's future is set by investments and investment companies (read 401k and retirement funds, private investors and so on) who are all driven by the percent of profit to total dollars. Exxon is getting pointed out as so bad because they had the largest profit in company history for the 2d Qtr and that is true, it is also true that they had the highest dollar sales and since the profit margin is a percent they should have had a larger profit-they did and their stock price fell because investors felt the percent was too low and they should have made more. Historically oil companies run around a 10% profit but Exxon was 8.4% so they did not perform well as far as investors go; in other words to really be historically average they actually held prices down and hurt themselves. The very bottom line is usually considered 7% for any company and anything close to that or lower makes it a poor risk for investment. Raising prices on companies will do nothing but raise prices on people who buy their product; the cry of not taxing the middle class, tax big business instead is nothing but a sleigh of hand trick to tax the middle class without them knowing it and then the politicians can blame it all on "big business" again. Cheap, dishonest and theatrical tricks which the politicians know is true but it will get them votes while just being honest will not.
