Does anybody know of any tricks or mechanical things that can be done to a car to increase gas mileage? i have a 2001 ford escape and the gas mileage i get out of it is absolutely horendous, its like 15 mpg. any tips would be appreciated.

A:If you drive on the interstate system lots you can save about 20% if you drive 55 instead of 80.Also make sure you don't carry any excess weight in the vehicle that's not needed for every 50 lbs of extra weight you loose 1mpg.You can also buy a vacuum operated mileage indicator that you mount near the dash with a hose that tee's into your vacuum system.

100% Q: What would cause gas mileage to go downhill?

I have a Honda Prelude Si. It used to get good gas mileage (30+ MPG), but within the past four months the mileage has plummeted to <25 mpg. I can use 1/4 of a tank to go 30 miles! This sucks big time! Any suggestions as to what might be causing it? And no, I don't have a leak in my gas tank either. And no, it's not being siphoned. I can see the gas gauge move while I'm driving.

A:Well, I was going to suggest that a clogged air filter will cause a loss of MPG, but 1/4 tank in 30 miles?? Is it running OK otherwise? No smoke or odd smells from the tail pipe? I am thinking of your injectors, that one may have gone bad on you.

100% Q: What is gas mileage on a car? and what does it have to do with the weight of a car?

Like if the car is large, what does that do to the gas mileage? Is there a positive or negative correlation between the two? If you can only answer what gas mileage is that would be just as fine. Thanks.

100% Q: How can you improve gas mileage on a moped?

I would like to improve gas mileage on a MC-DO3B TAHITI 150cc Moped Scooter. It can go roughly 60mph+ and can get up to 80mpg but i would like to if i could improve the gas mileage even more. Any tips on tuning, new parts, or anything else that i can do to raise the mpg on my scooter. Thanks for your help

100% Q: What kind of gas mileage would a 2000 Dodge Dakota 2WD REGULAR CAB get?

You can get smaller trucks like this for cheap, but I am thinking that is because of such high prices in gas. Do smaller trucks like this one get good gas mileage?

A:Its probably a V6. I have a Dodge Ram 1500 with a V6 magnum engine. It does pretty well for gas, but its also a manual transmission and manual tranny's are a little better than automatics, ANYWAY, gas mileage is probably somewhere between 12-20 mpg depending on the size of the truck, size of the engine, how you drive and traffic.
