A friend is saying it's now a good time to buy a cheap house ~ $200k. I can afford it in Fresno. I also see news about default mortgages, house inventory going up and retail sales going down. Is this a good time to buy low? Another thing is whether Fresno is a good market because I live 3 hours away from there and have no idea except it's pretty cheap out there. Any help would be appreciate?

The closest local news I can get is Fresno. I live in Lake Isabella. I can't even get local news for Bakersfield 50 miles away! Yahoo local news is of no use to me!
