I would reccomend Betty Blue!

A:Pan's Labyrinth, it was great. Not for young children though. Anything by Almodovar, the Spanish director. The Asterix films in French. Betty Bleu - 37 du matin, yes I remember that, it was good. I also enjoyed Goodbye Lenin, it was a recent surpise hit. Set in Germany. You could also try Der Untergang, English title Downfall, about the last days of Adolf Hitler's life, but it is brutal. And you must see Wings of Desire, original title was Der Himmel Ueber Berlin, the wonderful, beautiful film that that Angels with Nicholas Cage was based on. If you can get hold of it, there is a great film set in the rural Netherlands called De Poolse Bruid, or translated as The Polish Bride, it's very very good. Night on Earth by Jim Jarmusch was in various languages, it's very good also. And of course Amelie, a wonderful film.
