earth day lesson plans

In my college recreation programming class, we're teaching in area schools about Earth Day and doing lesson plans with the kids. But the school just called and wants us to come today. We weren't suppose to be teaching, so we don't have the craft supplies yet for our next activity. There's about 20 kids kindergarten through 4th grade. They have a gym and playground equipment for the gym. Do you have any suggestions of an activity we could do for the day? It's only for an hour. We haven't done any sort of active game yet so I was thinking something like that. Get the kids running, burn off some energy. It's suppose to be related to Earth Day and our group theme, but when we find out this soon it'll have to do. One of the girls in my group is a summer camp counselor so I think we can wing it. None of us are education majors and familiar with writting lesson plans; the professor just doesn't seem to like to teach and has us do this instead, ugh. Thanks for your suggestions!

I'm takeing a child development class and work as an intern at a preschool. We have recently been assigned to create lesson plans and activities for preschool age children. I'm working on Holiday based lesson plans and was thinking about using the the Dr. Suess book "the Lorax" for earth day. I plan to read the book, but what activity, art or otherwise, should I plan after words. Its for 3-5 years olds.

I am doing a Unit on Earth Day, recycling. One lesson I will be using soda cans, I want this to be focised on math...so counting by fives, etc. When I went to start writing the handout, I found that I have NO idea what to do for this lesson!! Please help. Any ideas for 1st grade, incorporating soda cans, counting by fives, counting up by fives, money, etc? Anything? By the way, this unit is for theoretical students, but I would like to use it in a classroom some day! Soda cans...or plastic bottles...counting by fives???
