100% Q: Earth day is 2 days away how do i celebrate earth day and what can i do to help the environment?
I wanna start by by buying small solar panels so that i can watch tv play games and all that runs and need electricities and put it out side my window and even charge batteries. What do u think and what are u planning for earth day. But i wanna do more then just buy solar panels what else can i do?.
A:THIS ANSWER IS IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE ANSWER. Well, I think that you should pick litter around your area. Try NOT to use the computer. Turn of all the lights around the house. Only drive if the distance you have to go is more than 1.5 miles. Tell others about what could happen if they don't get involved. If it hasn't rained in a while, then try watering all the plants, grass flowers, trees etc. Around your area to keep them living and creating better oxygen. If you really want to get involved, try planting flowers, or perhaps even a baby tree! If you have the power, try going to the neighborhood office, and talk to them about limiting the power in the neighborhood for the day, or if possible, even all the time. Also, you can go to http://wecansolveit.org and join. It's free and the more people that join, the more our great leaders like the president will notice. If they notice more, then they might even possibly do something to change it. Our world is dying, and the polar ice caps will be under water in a few years. You can change that just by doing one small thing.

100% Q: Do you think that one day the earth will be full of robots working for humans?
I think that right now the scientists are making cars just like robots that could talk to each other which also have an automatic drive, But I think that in the future or maybe now there would be robots like ns-5 that will help humans to solve their psychologic problems and in their handworks and even robots who will cure humans body and brain by lasers and mechines who will invent new things and will make 4D video games and movies and new generation musics and so on and also put mechines in the shopping center and bus and metro and taxi and as policemen that is going to be done in australia and also pilots and soldiers in army forces! But of course I know that in that case there will be alot of humans that will lose their jobs but therefore there will be new jobs for humans; anyway if you have sometning to say about this don't hesitate and if you have any news/journal about the future robots/mechines or present made in the world please let me know!
A:Lots of science fiction has been written about this scenario, which is of course possible. Your are being a "futurist". The Japanese are very much into robot technology as demonstrated by Asimo and Aibo. As human population ages, robots may become useful not only as helpers and servants but for personal companionship. Medical robots are an interesting possibility, melding huge database of medical knowledge with robotics, but I see that in a distant future since manual dexterity of a skilled pair of hands is difficult to replicate. Robotic soldiers is another interesting scenario. How do robots recognize good guys from the enemy is an interesting question. Robots may be better at weapons of mass indiscriminate destruction and genocide rather than as a surgical weapon. Then there is the question of "why robots?" Why not create a "race" of clones to meet these purposes, as in the movie "Blade Runners". You have people cloned to fight, people cloned to give pleasure, people cloned to serve. Interesting topics to test our morals. While you are testing your skills as a futurist, consider that advancement in technology is the the only factor that will influence the way people life in the 22nd century and beyond. Also factor in that over-population usually ends with pandemic diseases that wipes out a large percentage of the population. Medical science, of course, is attempting to stem this fate, but the constant escalation between germ evolution and medical science, puts human-kind under constant treat. How about global warming? How will the people live in the next century with huge envirnomental pressures. If global drought dictates that agriculture can only sustain a fraction of the current population, what is going to happen. Or what happens if most of coastal lands, where a majority of the world's population now live, becomes flooded by rising sea levels. There is going to be increasing competition for land. I just hope our social and political evolution can keep up with technological and medical revolution, which has contributed to human over-population, and thus the ecological pressures we put on this planet.

100% Q: Have Earth Day celebrations become too "commercial?"?
It seems in order to draw the crowds that opportunities are being lost to dig hard into some of the serious issues of the day, particularly global climate change. Face painting and games are great entertainment, but I think the education is being lost in the shuffle.
A:The release of 1000 balloons in observance of Earth week would make me gasp, and a Superbowl halftime show with dancers and musical entertainers would be a bit odd. But otherwise, any positive attention to earth week is welcomed. This is a week of respectful celebration, teaching, learning, loving and laboring and maybe a little mourning. The Columbus Dispatch has a great article about our cities green initiatives. Not all gloss, though. Mentions strengths as well as weaknesses. Where we are and where we want to go. Happy Earth week everyone! http://www.dispatchpolitics.com/live/content/insight/stories/2008/04/20/Green_Grid.ART_ART_04-20-08_G2_5J9UU6P.html?adsec=politics&sid=101
