The 2007 tuberculosis scare occurred when Atlanta personal-injury lawyer[1] Andrew "Drew" Speaker[2] (dubbed the 'TB Guy' by major American news organizations) flew from Atlanta, Georgia to Paris, France and then returned on a flight from Prague, Czech Republic to Montreal, Canada, when he crossed over the border and back into the United States while infected with multi-drug-resistant tuberculosis. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention believed at the time that Speaker was suffering from extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB). The incident sparked a debate in Congress on the failure of federal customs agents to stop him.[2] Upon Speaker's return to the United States, the CDC placed him under involuntary isolation (similar to quarantine) using a provision of the Public Health Service Act.[3] With this action, Speaker became the first individual subjected to a CDC isolation order since 1963.[4]....

100% Q: Can I sue Delta for giving me wrong information, due to which I missed my flight and had to buy new tickets?
Me and my wife were supposed to fly out of France, CDG to Dayton, OH at 9:20 am. We have been at the airport at quarter to 8, but we did not know the flight number- our itinerary only gave us the time, and Delta Connection as an airline. The tickets have been booked through Expedia. We inquired Delta ticketing agent in a white uniform shirt about our flight number. He did not look up our names in the computer, and instead sent us to the security checkpoint, where some lady was supposed to scan our information and give us our flight information. The lady scanned my wife’s passport, and told us that she is unable ot locate our flight information, and that we should stand in line and Delta counter associates would help us get the flight and boarding passes. We have went through a security screening, waited in line, and then were told that boarding is closed, and we need to go to Delta ticketing if we need more information. We ended up buying new tickets, and loose the unused ones.
A:I don't think suing the airline is an option for you. You really want to go through the hassle of that? It'll cost you more in court fees than the extra tickets you bought. But, what I'd do is call up Delta, talk to someone higher-up(not some flunky with no power), bitch, complain, plead, beg, give him hell, give him a sob story, lie, whatever you think will work to get a refund or some free tickets somewhere. I can sympathize. You're pissed off. You feel like you've been wronged and someone has to pay. Make a stink about it. That's what I'd do.

100% Q: Delta Airlines Check In Questions?
I just printed out my Receipt and Itinerary that Delta emailed me. I have 2 options to check in. One option is to check in Online 24 hours before the flight and the other option is using the self service Kiosk machine. I will only be bringing a carry on bag. Is checking in online faster than using the machine at the airport and is it fool proof? Does this mean I don't have to wait on line to be issued a boarding pass? I have not flown in several years so this is all new to me.
A:I always use the online check in. You have your boarding pass in hand, so can just proceed directly through security. Plus, if you're running a little late, you're already checked in and don't have to worry about lines.

100% Q: My airline seat assignments have "disappeared" from my itinerary. Can I still check in online?
I bought roundtrip Delta Airlines tickets for my family on December 5, and I'm 99% certain I selected seats for all four segments. I just logged in to check the status of the flights and discovered that the assignments for the first and second segments are not showing up. There is only 1 seat available on one plane, the other has no seats available. I know about overbooking, so don't explain that to me please, but I want to check in as early as possible to better my chances of getting on the airplanes. Will I be allowed to check in online without the seat assignments? Also, if you know, please comment on whether I'll be able to get confirmed seats for the second segment before leaving on the first flight...If I'm going to get bumped from the second flight, I'd rather sleep in my own bed than in an airport in a strange city with two children! If anyone has had this happen to them, or works for an airline and knows the answer to this, I'd appreciate your replies.
A:Airlines regularly oversell their flights. If you are certain you had seat assignments, you may have to call Delta in order to check on them. However, if you have a confirmed reservation for you and your family, call Delta and give them the reservation number for your flight. Generally, online checkin can't be done until 24 hours before the flight. While it shows that no seats are available, airlines will sometimes block seats, so they won't show as being available. Also, check on seats in the exit rows. You have to be over 15 and be physically capable of helping someone in an emergency.

100% Q: Seat assignments and changes on Delta?
This summer, I am on four Delta flights. My first one is DL 337: LGA-ATL, July 23. It is on a B757-200 (regular, not transcon, unfortunately), and I'm in 29C. This was the first available row in economy when I booked. However, a few days ago, row 28 completely opened up. I would rather sit there, since it's further forward. Rows 26-27 are exit rows. I could change my seat if I would like to. My questions: -Is it a good idea? (Where would you rather sit? Row 28-45 ABC-DEF) -I am in Coach (K). Will there be a change penalty/fee? If so, do you know how much? (I already emailed Delta, and they said I'd have to call them. I'd rather not, so I'll ask here first.) I have a SkyMiles number, and I could make changes in Itineraries, but I don't know how much it would cost. Here are some links: https://www.delta.com/planning_reservations/plan_flight/aircraft_types_layout/757-200/index.jsp http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Delta_Airlines/Delta_Airlines_Boeing_757-200.php Thank you! I chose my seats myself at delta.com. Thanks again. Just some extra info: I am in Economy Class K. Here is information from delta.com: Coach (Lowest fares) L, U, T, H, Q, K * Lowest published fares * Limited availability * Limited upgrade opportunity * Most restrictive 100% of Mileage It is a nonrefundable ticket. I know this question has been in voting, but if you know something that might help me but is not here, you can email me. Thanks again!
A:Changing your seat online is the easiest way to handle it. My seating preference is based on the length of the trip: for a short trip, 3 hours or less, I am fine with an aisle seat, but for a longer trip, 8 hours or more, I like the window so that I can use a pillow and prop my head against the side of the plane and nap. I also prefer to sit as close as possible to the front of my section so that I can get off the plane faster.
