Jérôme Kerviel (born January 11, 1977)[1] is a French trader who has been charged in the January 2008 Société Générale trading loss incident, resulting in losses valued at approximately €4.9 billion.[2] Société Générale characterises Kerviel as a rogue trader and claims Kerviel worked these trades alone, and without its authorization. Kerviel, in turn, told investigators that such practices are widespread and that getting a profit makes the hierarchy turn a blind eye.[3] The current investigation involves what is reported to be the largest fraud in banking history.[4][5]....

100% Q: Is a motorcycle dependable enough to put a lot of miles on?
I am planning on buying my first sportbike in the next few months, and i have already signed up for a beginners course. I was looking at the local cycle trader and other local listings (houston, TX) and all of the bikes have very low miles, typically under 10,000 miles is there any particular reason for this? are they only dependable for a few years?
A:Depends on what you buy, how you use it, and what kind of service maintenance it's had.
One member of my Club has a 1983 GL1100 Aspencade Honda Goldwing that went 512,000 miles before he "elected" to replace the engine. And that bike is still on the road today.
Some people change cars and bikes like they change their clothes (often). Even the old style air-cooled in-line 4cylinder motorcycles (the so-called UJMs or Universal Japanese Motorcycles) should be good for 50,000 to 60,000 miles.
Liquid cooled bikes are more car like in their longevity, and some makes do incredibly well. Some BMWs and Hondas (like the Goldwing) routinely go 200,000 miles without an engine overhaul. And this is normal in this day and age.
Is a high performance "sport bike" going to equal a Goldwing in reliability and longevity? Probably not. But you will want something newer and faster long before that engine dies of wear and tear or old age.

100% Q: I want to get a street legal motorcycle but I am a beginner so I need advice?
I want a starter cycle to practice on before I buy a new one. If I drop it then I won't be too bummed about it. I want to spend about $2,000-$3,000 and I have looked in the Cycle Trader and in the newspaper, but I am unsure where to look.
I don't have my license, but I am going to be taking a motorcycle course at the local college so I am ready for a starter bike.
Any advice?
Thanks!
A:A cheap small ride such as a used 250 rebel or maybe even a small SunL. I have helped many females learn to ride and pick out their first bikes. All have started on either the 250 rebels or the 250 excitor. With the exception of one who decided to purches a 50 cc SunL. It is now one year later and she told me the other day she was sorry for not listening becuase the SunL was now way to small. Most of these women have gone up to bigger bikes after about two years of riding, some have even gone as high as getting Harley low riders although most have gotten Harley 883 sporsters. One is still riding a rebel becuase she likes the way it handles and feels (she actually bought a new one last year).
My advice would be to buy a cheap used 250 and plan on keeping it for about two years. This will give you the time to learn to ride safely and also give you a chance to learn alittle simple repair on it with out fear. To find one check you local thrifty nickle and also go to area bike shops and talk to the salesman there. They often know where there are bikes like that if they don't have any on hand.
