100% Q: Any first grade homeschoolers here? What is your weekly schedule?
There were months that I'll have a strict schedule and we do get a lot of things done but I get so stressed out. During those times that I'm lax and just goes with the flow I would sometimes be surprised on how much my child had learned. I was wondering though what is your typical homeschooling schedule. I'm creating mine and would like more inputs. Thanks for reading and taking time to answer this.
A:We're the relaxed type. Other than 30 minutes with me a day with my now gr. 2 son to work on reading, handwriting and math, the rest is kind of go-with-the-flow. You don't need a schedule to learn, as you have discovered. He does lots of other stuff that comes up without me having to specifically plan for it in advance.
As I shared in another answer, a local principal told one homeschooling mom that homeschooled kids in gr. 1 shouldn't spend more than 1 hour on formal work a day. He didn't say should spend 1 hour--shouldn't spend more than 1 hour. Some kids will naturally want to spend more than that and that's fine.

100% Q: Where can I find a weekly healthy meal schedule for my family?
I get so caught up with daily activities in my home and with the kids and end up either making the same foods during the week or not including enough fruits and vegetables.
I would like to create or find a site that provides weekly meals that are healthy and not too complicated. I love cooking and trying new things.
The schedule can help me shop for ingredients ahead of time too instead wandering the aisles trying to figure out the meals.
A:Order the RachelRay magazine, she always has a 7-day menu planner. Or go to her website. RachelRay.com

100% Q: How would you make this schedule for a first grade class?
I teach first grade and I have a difficult time in creating a schedule that fits everything in. What would you suggest?
We start at 7:50, students leave to go to specials at 10:45-11:30, then go to lunch at 11:50-12:20 and leave at 2:00.
Within those times I have to fit in a 2 hour reading block, science/or social studies (I usually switch each subject weekly), writing, math, and of course the best...recess.
Within the reading block I would like to have time to do centers, word work, and ind. reading time.
I know what is best for the students that are learning to read, I just have a hard time fitting everything in, in the time we have, with the capability of a 6-7 year old.
Any suggestions would be great!
A:If you are starting at 7:50 then you will have plenty of time to fit in the reading block in the morning. There are many combinations that could work, but I usually start off the day with Journal writing. This way the students have an activity to do while morning announcements and attendance is taking place. I would follow the journal writing (10 mins.) with my Reading block (8-10). Then you will have about 45 mins to input writing, science, social studies, or recess. Between specials and lunch you have 20 mins. so you could input an activity there. After lunch, 12:20 you could start your Math block. Just remember, the way things look on paper does not have to dictate exactly how you run your class. Of course when you are being observed by administration and the District then you follow your schedule to a T but on other days, if you finish early then move on. You will be surprise how everything that needs to get done actually does get done. Oh and don't forget, you can have your students read, or in the case of the first half of the year read to your students, their science books and social studies books during reading. But once again make sure you check to see what your district guidelines are.

A:Monday-pose for poporatzee(Sic)
Toosday(sic)-Promote my absolutely awful "album"and say "thats hot"

100% Q: how to create a home budget?
I have tried many times to create a detailed budget to help me catch up my fianaces. I am single parent with No child support and money is very tight. I cant see to find one that works with my weekly pay schedule. Can someone point me in the right direction?
A:i write in each day i get paid on a calendar -- trying my best to estimate how much the check will be. also, on those days, i write the bills that are due on or before the next pay day. as i write the checks i mark it off the calendar. try to buy groceries on one large shopping trip to save time and money. i do this after i pay the rent at the beginning of the month to prevent coming up short. it has worked very well for me. good luck!
