business sale owner finance
In finance, short selling or "shorting" is the practice of selling a financial instrument that the seller does not own at the time of the sale. Short selling is done with intent of later purchasing the financial instrument at a lower price. Short-sellers attempt to profit from an expected decline in the price of a financial instrument. Short selling or "going short" is contrasted with the more conventional practice of "going long" which occurs when an investment is purchased with the expectation that its price will rise.....

100% Q: I am a new small business owner. Could anyone give me the top 10 things every small biz owner needs to know?
Marketing, Finances, Taxes, Sales, Etc.
A:Well I can tell you my experience by being a small business owner. My husband and I own a residential/small commercial electric company. We have 8 employees and around 20 builders we work for. Here is what I have learned after three years of the above:
1) Most of our business is word of mouth - we took out advertising and only had one call from it. We bought magnetic signs for the trucks and passed out business cards, and word traveled fast. If you do good work, word travels fast, if you do crappy work, word travels faster.
2) You will not get rich owning your own business. It is a long process of growing your business and making it flow like it should. We are just now seeing good profits after three years. We always made money, but just not alot.
3) It is alot of hard work and dedication. Having employees is stressful because you are responsible for them.
4) Taxes SUCK! Make sure you know all the tax requirements for your type of business. Call the IRS or a CPA and take notes. Keep out enough money from each check you receive to cover said taxes.
5) Once you start taking out taxes on your employees, you can not go back. If you take out taxes on them, you are responsible for payroll liablilty tax every month and the 941 report every quarter.
6) Don't be scared to ask questions if you are unsure of something.
7) Forget vacations, you won't have time. And if you take a trip you will worry the entire time about your business. My husband's cell phone never stops ringing.
8) Get a good program for your business to keep up with your banking, taxes, payroll...etc. I use Quickbooks Premier. Keep everything up to date.
9) Do not throw away receipts..etc, just because they are entered in the computer. Save the hard copies of everything.
10) Don't give up - work hard and it will pay off!!

100% Q: Could someone explain these terms or just a part of them? - sources of finance for business?
Could someone explain these terms for me? Thank you!
Hire purchases
Venture capital
Share issued
Commercial mortgage
Business Loan
Overdraft
Debt factoring
Sales of assets
Owners’ capital
A:This sounds suspiciously like business school homework...but I love homework!
Venture capital is the profits from a business you start.
Share issued: some businesses are broken up into parts that can be owned by many individuals rather than one or two owners. Sometimes those businesses give part of the company to new employees or to a member of the board of directors for a business. This means that whoever the share is issued to now owns part of that business.
Commercial mortgage is a loan for property strictly used for a business that buys and sells things (like a loan for a retail store).
Business loan is of course money borrowed for your business to be used for any business-related reason.
Overdraft is what happens when your bank accout is out of money and you write a check; it "bounces" and your account has a negative dollar amount.
Debt factoring is something the loan officer does when either approving or denying your loan. They take all the other debt you already have and decide whether you can afford to make the payments for the loan you are trying to get.
Sales of assets is simply selling anything that is of value. For a business it could be equipment or property--anything people or other businesses will buy.
Owners' capital is the money made from the business for the owner of the business.
Hope this is helpful.

100% Q: Need financing to buy an existing business in Oklahoma?
My husband and I would like to buy an existing bar(nightclub) that is for sale, we are having problems finding financing to purchase it. The main problem we keep running into is we filed bankrupcy because previous marrages we were in messed up our credit. Our bankrupcy has been discharged. The current owner is selling the business because of his health. The bar(nightclub) is very profitable. The current owner is asking $423,500 for the business and it appraises at $459,000, The owner is willing to carry the down for the business. The SBA will not touch us nor will any banks. Any suggestions would be great ASAP. Thanks in advance.
A:you are up the creek without the paddle.
try again in the future when your credit is better
