A:I don't see how you can argue with #4, Bobby Orr. The most complete two way player ever to play. The only possible reason I could consider not taking him would be because of the those knees. Even as tough as Orr was, half of your roster would be on IR if you had to play a season with that team! Messier definitely. Honorable mention to Gordie, Bobby Clarke, Cam Neely. All hard nose guys who would beat you into the ground and score.

A:i would have to go with magic johnson as the best player. micheal as the greatest player. whats the difference between best and greatest? i just think when you are the best at something that means you can do everything better than everybody else. magic johnson was the epitome of that. he could play all five positions on the court. score pass defend and rebound. a man 6'9 who played point guard is amazing. but jordan is the greatest player of all time. great is like way above anybody else. like a he changed the game. like hes a a faux demigod. any and everybody could score. but it was the way he scored and how he scored. his command of the game and the ability to make teammates better and even opponents better. john starks and reggie miller had some of their best games against the bulls. then you have to look at his ability to market himself and the nba. jerry west may be the logo of the NBA. But i would bet anybody any amount of money that everybody knows who is the NIKE JUMPMAN logo. he made the game global. everybody wanted to be like mike. thats what great is.

A:bill russell was a winner in grade school, high school, college and the nba....maybe its because he belongs to the era long time past but these people who think of others as the greatest never bother to look up russell's winning accomplishments.... and to those of you who chose chamberlain, you might want to check how russell dominated their encounters to wilt's frustration and you have the gall to choose wilt over russell...and remember michael jordan did not win his first title until he was six years in the league and bird, magic and kareem were fading or away from the battles....11 rings in 13 nba campaigns says it all and he even played in 12 finals....no player ever has ever achieved 12 finals in 13 seasons and to say no one will ever again is a safe bet....being great should never be about personal records, flashy plays, or scoring many points...it should be about winning and there is no bigger winner than the great Bill Russell

A:There are a lot of players you could mention here like Ty Cobb, Lou Gehrig, Ted Williams, Stan Musial, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron and so on but the greatest of all time is the legendary Babe Ruth without any doubt in my opinion. He had a career record as a pitcher in the early part of his career of 94-46 with a 2.27 earned run average as was considered the best in the American League for years beating the great Walter Johnson on a regular basis and holding the World Series record for many years for consecutive shutout innings before it was broken by Whitey Ford. Then the hitting, WOW! He could bust the baseball regularly into the seats that completely changed the game of baseball as fans came out in droves just to watch him hit. The Babe had 2873 hits, 506 doubles, 116 triples and 714 homeruns during his career with a .342 lifetime batting average and a lifetime .690 slugging percentage. In 1921 he had 119 extra base hits with 59 homers, 44 doubles, 16 triples, still probably the greatest single season in history. He hit 15 World Series homers, second only to Mickey Mantle and twice hit 3 homeruns in a single World Series game. He was of course an American icon love by millions and the world will never see a better player than the Mighty Bambino, Babe Ruth.
