i recently talked to my dad and he told me it was okay to look for a new car because my current car which is a honda 02 civic dx is having problems left and right .......i need to know from people who own 2007-2008 model cars which are the best ones to go ......these cars being MAZDA3 AND 6 , HONDA CIVIC , NISSAN ANY OF THEIR MODELS, TOYOTA SEDANS AND COUPE MODELS ONLY, AND ALDO CHEVYS SEDANS AND COUPES ONLY ...PLEASE KEEP IN MIND CARS UNDER 22 THOUSAND DOLLARS ....thANKS Zelda i meant to say which of the cars listed is the best one to go with and is it better with carmax or a dealership ?

100% Q: How much discount should I expect to get on a brand-new 2007 car?

A local dealer has an unsold 2007 model. How much less should I expect to pay versus a 2008? The car is a BMW 3-series.

A:Don't expect a dealer to give away his 2007 cars just because it's last year's model. He still has money tied up in the car, he is still paying interest on the loan he used to buy the car from the manufacturer, and he still pays inventory tax at the beginning of the year. The normal sticker-price profit margin on a BMW 3-series car is only 7.8%. Unless the dealer is getting some factory-to-dealer rebates (very rare for BMW), he can't sell the car for less than about 8% discount. According to Edmunds, you can get about 1.8% discount on the 2008 model.

100% Q: When is the best time to get a new car - 2007 model? (End of the year - Nov/Dec or January 2008)?

A:Since we are talking about the present, I would not wait. The weather has been unseasonably warm throughout the country so cars are still moving later into the fall then normal. I would not wait until Jan because of the supply. I own an auto transport company and know right now there is a three week backlog to the dealers. Basically, they are selling cars faster than they can get them. The buying season is longer due to the nice weather. Otherwise, I would say wait but this year is different then most.

A:No, they are new, but you usually can get good discounts.

100% Q: Is it better to wait until towards the end of the year to purchase a 2007 model car?

Wondering if it is better to wait until the 2008 models flood the dealership to buy a 2007 model. Need to get it done soon but can wait if there is a better time to deal - like end of Sept/Oct. I appreciate the assistance.
